Analyzing Heroes in Pop Culture

Analyzing Heroes in Pop Culture
Pop culture, predominantly known as mass culture, is usually acknowledged by members
of the society as practices, objects, and beliefs that dominate the society in a given time. Pop
culture can be drawn from television programs, sports, corporate branding, music, as well as
personal branding. Most people view pop culture as trivial as well as dumbed down to identify
consensual acceptance to attract attention that is the mainstream. A film that presents an ultimate
demonstration of pop culture is The Lord of the Ring. Young people embraced the film as the
countercultural saga. Its impact has been stretched profoundly in the present day as the present
artists have attempted to capture the words of Tolkien in their images, specifically, in the
calendar demonstrations of brothers Tim Hildebrandt and Greg. To gain solid consent regarding
pop culture, this essay summarizes the film The Lord of the Ring, and after that, it will analyze
Frodo Baggins character in the film to illustrate pop culture.
Thesis Statement
Pop culture is usually drawn from personal branding, sports, as well as television
programs. By watching a film, the audience tends to imitate the characters demonstrated by the

inferior to maximize their innate ability to change the perceptions of the people about their
physical appearance. In the film, Frodo managed to change the lives of his people following his
inherent ability to channel the ring to the mountain.
Film Summary using the Hero’s Journey
Ordinary World: Frodo in a company of Sam, his best friend, in conjunction with Merry and
Pippi who are his cousins live happily in the Shire, a small village
Call to adventure: Gandalf challenges Frodo to destroy the ring
Refusal of the call: first, Frodo is not ready to leave his easy life in the Shire though, he later
realized he is vulnerable whenever the ring exists, and this was after he nearly got killed by the
Ringwraiths (Zoladek, p.46).
Meeting of the mentor: Frodo contacts the fellowship, a team that is marked with entrusted
friends of Gandalf guaranteed to help Frodo in destroying the ring. The fellowship is coupled
with the hobbit companions of Frodo, Gandalf, Legolas the Elf, Aragorn, and the man Boromir.
Crossing the first threshold: the fellowship opts to accompany Frodo on his long adventure to
Mt. Doom. It happens to be the only place where the ring can be destroyed.
Allies, tests, and enemies: on the journey, Frodo experiences a lot of constraints, enemies, and
friends. He travels over the mountains, and he merely gets away from the wrath of Balrog. He
makes friends with elves, he is nearly captured by the Saruman forces, Gollum attacks him, and
the carnivorous spider nearly eats him.
Strategy to the inmost cave: Frodo gets out of the fellowship to embark on his long journey
with Sam to Mt. Doom. Nevertheless, the fellowship cannot accompany Frodo as they are tasked
to manage Sauron forces. Sam and Frodo rely on the Gollum as it presents them with a
framework of journeying the secret back paths to eventually get into the path of Mt. Doom
