ilitary Strategies: On a Limited Budget Boston: Colonial Press, 1799 Geared for both a broad audience and professional military historians this book provides an insight into the financial crises involved in the war. The authors show the importance and reliance on foreign currency and support in the prosecuting of the war. The authors share their firsthand experience of deprivation and include a list of books that they used in planning military strategy. 1 By common consensus the authors were the best American generals and so their book is a valuable resource in understanding the relationship between economics and strategy. Chapter Two of the book is particularly useful since it contains Washington’s and Greene’s plans for the Battle of Manhattan. I found this book in the Castleton State College Library online catalog. I searched for the term finances in the Title field and sorted the results by most recently published. I found a couple of books that looked good in the catalog but this one was the most useful once I got to the shelf Magazine Article Fein, Bruce. “Ruling makes religion bill unnecessary for freedom. (impact of United States Supreme Court decision, protecting right of Santeria religion to sacrifice animals, on Religious Freedom of Restoration Act)”. Insight on the News, 19 July 1993, 34 This article discussing the recent U.S. Supreme court decision that found the city of Hialeah Florida had enacted an unconstitutional law. The city council in an attempt to stop the opening of a Santeria Temple enacted several ordinances against the use of animals in sacrifice. “Writing for the majority in Church of the Lukumi Babalu Aye vs. City of Hialeah, Justice Anthony Kennedy declared unconstitutional a Florida City’s ordinances manifestly targeted at ritual animal sacrifices practiced by adherents of the Santeria religion.” The article also mentions the “Religious Freedom Act” proposed legislation that would attempt to redefine and limit religious freedom. The author warns the supporters of the bill that religious freedom is a right that is still cherished in this country. The article is succinct and accurate. It gives a good overview to the court case. Finally, the article explores the causes and legal events that lead to this being such a pivotal legal case. It enumerates the events, people and causes of this legal suit. It details the court’s unanimous decision to uphold the plaintiff’s petition.
