It can take some time to acquire data to support your project. Data may come from clinical coding or billing databases, operational budgets, published research, or compilations through the Cochrane library (a database accessible through the Concordia library) or even government databases that require following the freedom of information regulations to access information. It may not be feasible to obtain actual data for this section of your plan. I will allow creativity if you would like to “guestimate” any outcomes that might be helpful to include in your strategic plan. I will still encourage you to attempt to acquire the data you are seeking – even if only to support your project moving forward. If you plan to include actual data, business or clinical, in your strategic plan that you will submit for this paper make sure you disclose that and attain permissions to do so from the organization that holds the information. Any published information is considered “fair use” and no permission is needed.
This week’s paper should be 2 content pages APA style. You will find and share existing data or develop a data-gathering plan to establish a benchmark and forecast where the trends might lead, and specifically predict the impact of your plan and what you hope it will achieve. Refer back to your Week 1 Goal and objectives. Now we will get a little more specific on predicting and measuring the intended impact of your plan. The prediction is likely best approached using Brodbent’s (2011) style of explanation of why and how you believe you can achieve your outcome through your plan, versus taking the most logical alternative available and running with it. The explanation you provide here will offer an excellent depth of wisdom to help get your team on board with your plan. This paper will require some library time to support your specific plan.
Include what data elements you intend to monitor after the implementation of your plan to help ascertain whether or not your goals are being achieved.
Include a forecast of how your plan is intended to improve the existing outcomes. Use specific numbers or percentages to predict goals and how exactly you plan to achieve them, whether pioneering a new venture or using outcome data from others who have done a similar project, include relevant data about your situation.
Consider including what failure might look like for any plans involving innovation and how the project might be contained if that happens. We do not typically do a good job identifying failure and we sometimes end up trying to make things work and end up making the situation worse. Sometimes we need to face the fact that a particular plan is simply is not the right time or approach to engaging in the matter.
You may choose to include any contingency strategies if success is not obtained as projected. Include this only when there is a significant red flag that needs to be addressed.
Compile a spreadsheet and/or graphic illustration (Microsoft Excel) to provide a visual graph of the current outcomes and projected outcomes. You may choose to use or elements from this in your executive summary for your final paper.
