Informatics and technology utilization are important topics to the provision of safe and quality patient care. We explored informatics competencies and the presence of information technology in all aspects of providing care. Issues included in the discussion of technology in nursing practice encompass everything from documentation, confidentiality and privacy of information, and telehealth. Whether we are using biomedical equipment or communicating interprofessional with members of our healthcare team, we must use informatics and technology in a meaningful, ethical, and responsible way.
