Discriminatory utterances from colleagues

Literature Review
Introduction
For a long time, the transgender community has battled to be included in sports.
Discriminatory utterances from colleagues and even sporting organizations have not made
their plight simpler. In 2016, Caster Semenya, a South African middle-distance runner and
the years’ Olympic gold medalist, was subjected to all manner of discrimination. The move is
seen to be going against international human rights and the United States of America (US)
Civil rights Act of 1964. Transgender discrimination in sports has affected how the sporting
community interacts. For optimum operation of the sport, there should be laid down rules that
guide the all-inclusive sporting activity. Inclusivity will make sports enjoyable and without
bias and prejudice.
Potential Solutions
There are two vital solutions to the discrimination that is being experienced in
sports by transgender. The solutions are mainly geared towards helping women that identify
as trans-genders in sports. Firstly, the organizers of every sporting activity should have an all-
inclusive even. In this context, an all-inclusive event means that apart from having the
women and the men activities, the organizers should have a transgender segment where
people who identify as such are also given a chance to showcase their talent. In so doing, the
sport and organizers will have solved the problem of having trans-genders in their event.
Secondly, there should be a comprehensive biological measure to classify athletes (Harper et
al., 2018). While some trans-genders may identify with a biological gender that they were not
born with, they may possess hormones that are predominantly from the opposite gender.
Having a comprehensive biological measure, the stakeholders will be sure that there is
fairness in the competition.
