1.One way to improve the safety of older adult drivers is to improve roadway characteristics. Provide examples of how a better-designed roadway system that takes the needs of older adults into consideration. This is your opportunity to be creative and to think of ways to improve transportation and driving conditions.

2. Let us assume you are responsible for providing housing options for elders. A) What would you do to expand housing options? B) How would you remove barriers? C) What would you do to keep elders in their present homes? D) What would you do for low-income marginalized elders?

3. Discuss the challenges facing a care management program. Are those challenges new?

4. What are the services most valuable by caregivers? How would you improve funding for those services? How can the services be improved while at the same time being budget neutral?

5. Numerous studies have linked the concept of social support and interaction to better health. The love and support of other people can decrease a person’s stress level and may help to increase a person’s sense of personal control.  List 3 interventions that health professionals can attempt to prevent elders from social withdrawal and decline both socially and physically.

6. Life expectancy for both men and women in the United States continues to increase.

List some of the factors that influence life expectancy.  Describe how those influences impact life expectancy for men and women. Compare life expectancy and contributing factors for those who are Caucasion, for African Americans and Hispanics, for American Indians and Asian Pacific Islanders.

Find a newspaper or scholarly article where a health care organization or a provider was found guilty of malpractice, criminal negligence, false credentials, failure to treat or patient abandonment. Provide specific details of the case. Discuss with your colleagues 1. which critical health care error does the article address? 2. Explain the setting and details using your own words.  3.
