#2. This week we are dealing a major discrepancy–the American rhetoric in World War II, “the good war,” fighting for freedom and democracy against fascism. Yet in addition to the glaring hypocrisy of having a fully segregated military and large group of Americans deprived of basic civil and political rights, we need to come to terms with the horror of the Japanese-American internment camps.

For up to two points extra credit–click on the following link and look at the photos depicting the reality behind Executive Order 9066. Choose ONE photo. Describe the photo physically and then write a paragraph explaining why you chose that particular photo and what you think the photographer was trying to express by capturing it. Please do not choose the second or fourth photos as they are already in the PowerPoint this week.
