1. View the following three PowerPoints posted on Moodle: YGB Theme Ideas; Symbolism in Literature; Setting and Plot
2. Select one of the theme ideas for Young Goodman Brown from the YGB Theme Ideas PowerPoint, or develop a new theme idea, and write a 600-word essay explaining how that theme is supported throughout the whole story, through setting, mood, characterization, and symbolism. Be sure that the theme is supported by the story as a whole.
3. The paper should be written following YGB Theme Essay Format and Grading Rubric Handout posted on Moodle.
4. Don’t forget to read Revelation by Flannery O’Connor and be prepared to discuss the theme and other literary elements of the story, specifically plot, characterization, setting, mood, and symbolism, and how they all go to support the theme you identify.
