Do you think the feminist criticism of Rawls’ theory of justice is convincing? Why?

I think that feminist criticism of Rawls’ theory of justice is convincing. First, Rawls’s

theory of justice maintains the principled reconciliation of liberty and equality in a well-

structured society whereby these principles of justice are looked up to guide the conduct of

different parties involved. Rawls’ fundamental principle mainly guarantees a just and morally

acceptable society (Bair 48). Besides, Rawls’s theory of feminist criticism emphasizes

women’s negative experiences but fails to recognize that indeed some women can have happy

marriages. The concept has caused division between the two genders whereby the theory

renders men as being universally bad while in the real sense, Rawls’ theory is advocating for

equality to all genders.

Secondly, a concept known as patriarchy has been criticized in most cases for

ignoring variations of oppression. This is indicated in areas where women have been

subjected to chores that men believe they should be able to perform due to what they term as

the natural laws. Apart from this, women have also been subjected to several injustices like

denying them rights of liberty due to societal stand on them on democracy, especially in the

older days. Rawls’ theory came under criticism concerning the plan. Notably, postmodern

feminism has been concerned with the relationship between power and knowledge instead of

focusing on politics and opportunities (Bair 51). These are indicated by the level of

involvement of women in most decision-making on the seats that were once predominated by
