Does “justice” guide divine actions and immortal involvement in mortals’ lives any more or less in the polytheistic works?

Question Description

In class, recently, it was suggested that the reason for the flood in the Epic of Gilgamesh seemed more trivial than in the book of Genesis, implying that the gods in the earlier work were less just than the God of the Old Testament. Is this the case, not only for the gods in the Epic of Gilgamesh, but also for the pagan gods in the other mythological works we’ve read? Does “justice” guide divine actions and immortal involvement in mortals’ lives any more or less in the polytheistic works we’ve read this semester than in the one monotheistic text we’ve been reading from?

It should be 4 to 6 pages in length and make effective use of textual examples in supporting your argument. In composing your response, make extensive use of and reference to the Old Testament, to at least one other work from this semester’s readings, and to at least one outside source in composing your answers to this question.
