The article selected for this discussion is by Allie Yang, published on first October 2020
by ABC news (Yang, 2020). The article examines Dr. Anthony Fauci, and how he handles the
current pandemic as well as how he handled past pandemics, or outbreaks such as the HIV/AIDS
outbreak. Through this examination, the article shows Fauci to be an expert with clear morals
that shape his approach to decision making. It also acknowledges that he has frequently suffered
criticism, sometimes malicious, but he has often triumphed because he has remained
professional, and ethical in how he has managed the COVID 19 pandemic as well as other past
disease outbreaks.
In managing these issues, Fauci relies on deontological ethics. This means that he views
