Exploration of research methods

C‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌W1 (80% of total mark) Exploration of research methods (group assessment) This assessment is comprised of documenting your group’s exploration of 3 different methods from the modules sessions (the module will cover 7 methods, so choose 3 your group wants to explore) and produce either a 5 minute video or 2 and half page document (minimum) that captures the process of working with each research method. You must reference some of the main concepts in the reading and the lecture as part of your exploration of the methods. Emphasis is on: engagement with the research methods—show that you are ‘trying them out’, exploration of pertinent concepts and documenting the learning process of your group. It must be presented in a clear, professional manner, but it will not be assessed in terms of aesthetics or sophisticated production values. There are 2 different options for this Course Work. Either: 1. Video: 5 minute ‘behind the scenes’ video for each of the 3 selected methods OR 2. Document: produce a 2.5 page document minimum (you may use‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌ more if you are presenting images and material) for each of the 3 selected methods that must include images and examples of the research conducted. You must include (in both option 1 or 2): –A definition of the method, identify a particular approach to using it. –Be clear in identifying a particular issue and/or question that you want to research that is appropriate to the method you are using. –Document how you applied the method. –Present details: circumstances of deploying the method, material used, context. — Give high-lights of the research, key findings and reflections on using each method. Deliverables: All members of the group must submit, through the turnitin link on Moodle, a link to the video (posted to Vimeo or YouTube) if you are doing option 1; or submit the document if you are doing option 2. NOTE: Mandatory tutorial sessions will be held to review your work on CW1 (on 12 and 28 June). To do well you must present drafts of this assignment to your lecturer and address any issues and recommendations raised in these tutor‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌ial sessions.
