Is murder wrong because God prohibits it, or does God prohibit it because it’s wrong?

Question Description

Read pages 5-33 in the Cahn & Markie textbook on Plato. The reading assignment includes the Euthyphro and the Defence of SocratesAfter reading the assigned pages, be sure to consult the short Canvas lecture on Plato found under the “Pages” tab for this course.

Write between 200-300 words total (you should be able to answer both questions within 300 words). Stay strictly within the length guidelines.

(1) Is murder wrong because God prohibits it, or does God prohibit it because it’s wrong?

(2) In what way does question (1) relate to the assigned reading?

It is alright to compose your response in paragraph format, just be sure that you answer both questions. Your answer to question (1) will come from your own inner struggles with the idea, and then you will relate your thoughts to the assigned textbook selection in (2).
