Leadership Style and Change Advocacy Statement
Good leadership empowers the followers and strengthens their commitment to the
attainment of shared goals, maintenance of organizational standards, and delivery of
performance results. As a result of the importance of good leadership, leaders need to understand
their approach to leading others and evaluate its relevance to systems and processes for achieving
the shared vision. In this regard, a statement of the personal leadership style shows this level of
understanding and justifies the leader’s quest for changes in the organization. Therefore, this
paper would describe my personal leadership style, change advocacy statement, and illustrate the
connection between them and their effects on my success.
Statement of Personal Leadership Style
My view on leadership is that it should consist of practices and decisions that result in
important changes in the followers, including the character and behavioral modifications that
turn into leaders. This perspective is the reason why my style of leading people is the
transformational leadership style because it encourages the followers to challenge the status quo,
use the changes to learn new techniques, and develop positive attitudes towards improvement.
According to Bonsu and Twum-Danso (2018), the transformational leader stimulates the
intellects of the followers, provides them the chances and resources to learn and grow from new
experiences, and encourages them to take risks and exploit opportunities. In this regard, my
leadership style allows me to form trusting relationships with my followers, engage in open and
honest communication with them, give them a sense of ownership of the organization and its
system. Similarly, my style of leading requires the effective communication of the clear vision,
motivation of the followers to identify and use creative measures for solving organizational
