Good Evening Class,

Part 1

HS312-1: My success for this outcome was being able to interpret confidence interval and explain how it works. During this outcome, I struggled with understanding standard error. I mainly struggled with this concept because it was difficult to understand the percentages and distribution.

HS312-2: My success for this outcome was understanding hypothesis testing and the different kinds of statistical analysis. It was very easy to understand the different kinds of tests and when to use them. The challenge I experienced for this outcome was figuring out how to apply these tests to certain studies.

HS312-3: My success for this outcome was learning how to use PSPP with ease. The challenge I experienced with this outcomes was understanding how the actual numbers were computed since everything was computerized.

HS312-4: Data mining was probably the easiset outcome out of the 6 outcomes that we went through in this class. My success in this outcome came from being able to identify patterns in data. My challenge came from the assignment we had in unit 6. I found it difficult to write a paper based upon what I interpreted from PSPP scores.

HS312-5: My strength for this concept was understanding and interpreting business intelligence. My challenge was making recommendations after interpreting the data provided in assignment 9. I’m not very good when it comes to making recommendation or data

HS312-6: I found my success in this concept by being able to research the topic that I selected from healthdata.gov which was maltreatment. It was a little challenging to build the scatterplot and I was unsure if the data was plotted correctly at times.

The two outcomes that can be useful are HS312-5 and HS312-6. I find these two concepts useful because they can be applied not only in epidemiology but in business as well.

Part 2

After reviewing the entire unit the application that interests me the most is PSPP. PSPP interest me the most because it is able to process large amounts of data to minimize error in the calculation and data process

I have always had trouble understanding statistics. I’m not really even sure where the breakdown for me is. I did get a better understanding on selecting the most appropriate test for a scenario though. By using t-tests and anova, it became easier to understand the parameters of these tests. The use of the downloaded software was helpful in this. I am very much a hands on learner and do much better if I can do something rather than just hear about it or read it. I did like finding the outcomes to these tests. It was interesting that if only one number was off then the outcome would be completely off from what it was supposed to have been (I made that mistake early on).
