Comparing Homeland Security Research Products
Since the attacks of 9/11/2001 and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security there have been massive amounts of homeland security research and information created. Now that you have studied the design and execution of research you will compare and contrast two homeland security research products and evaluate their effectiveness.
First read and evaluate the research of the New York Police Departments report: Radicalization in the West: The Homegrown Threat. Read and evaluate the executive summary on pages 5-14. This report examines the incidence of homegrown terrorists within the borders of the U.S.
Next read and evaluate the research of the Department of Homeland Security report: Rightwing extremism: Current economic and political climate fueling resurgence in radicalization and recruitment. This report provides an assessment of the threat of homegrown extremism from right wing groups.
