Nursing practices have been guided by various theories that elaborate on the activities
and guidelines required by the nurses and healthcare practitioners. Nursing theories also
describes the rules and requirements that support the implementation of effective, efficient, and
affordable healthcare practices. For instance, Dorothy Johnson was involved in the establishment
of Behavior System Model which defines the effective nursing practice as the approach of
evaluating the external regulatory force that acts to help in the preservation of patients’ behavior
within a medical institution (Smith & Parker, 2015). The behavior system model also helps the
