Several impediments that may prevent an average citizen from receiving a fair trial in the
U.S.
A fair trial is a basic requirement of a due process. Irrespective of that, the requirements
of fairness of the court system cannot be exhausted.” Due process of the law requires that the
proceedings shall be fair .Fairness is a relative but not an absolute concept…What is fairness in
one set of circumstances may be an act of tyranny in others” (National Lawyers Guild, 1970).
Two of the impediments but not the least that may prevent an average citizen from
receiving a fair trial in the U.S is; one is bias. Where bias is involved, it denies the participants
right to fair trial. Bias can be experienced where participants are not given equal time to defend
themselves, lack of equal access to information and legal advice.
