STUDY OF THE U.S. HEALTH CARE SYSTEM

STUDY OF THE U.S. HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
Introduction
Health care is an important sector in the U.S. government. The current emergence of
complex, communicable, and lifestyle-related diseases makes health care a key priority in
society. In the early 1920s, individual hospitals started providing services to Americans
individually on pre-paid terms, eventually leading to the establishment of Blue Cross
organizations later in the 1930s. The first hospitalization plan by the employer was created by the
teachers in Dallas, Texas, in the year 1929. Later in 1964, civil rights activists started to
champion the uninsured, especially the elderly. This led to the establishment of Medicare and
Medicaid in 1965. Today, the majority of hospitals are striving to be a center of excellence in
providing health care services. This paper will also cover if the financing of long-term care is
appropriate.
Question One
The significant United States (U.S.) population has continued to enjoy the optimal
healthcare system provided by the government. All the employees are entitled to benefit from
quality health care coverage from their employers. According to the United States Census
Bureau report of 2019 by the population clock (2020), the United States has a total population of
329.2 million people, making it the third most populated country in the world. Demographic
changes, disease pattern changes, increased costs, and increases in supply and demand for health
care services are a few factors that are severely impacting health systems in the United States.
According to Walter (n.d), demographic changes and changes in societal needs are straining
health systems demanding them to provide new options in the delivery of healthcare services.
Averagely the population of the U.S. has been increasing by approximately 0.75 percent per year
