The Aeneid of Virgil Summary

The Aeneid of Virgil Summary
Rome consisted of the Aeneid who invaded Greece and Italy, bringing with them metals
such as bronze, copper, and weapons made of iron. There was intermingling, thus becoming
Latins around 1176 B.C. Democratic government was formed by the Romans, which gave a lot
of rights to the people wherever they conquered, which means they did not have the urge to kill
or enslave their enemies and captives, unlike the Greeks. The countries that were defeated had no
obligation but to pay taxes in addition to surrendering their troops to defend the growing Roman
Empire. As a result, there was tremendous growth in infrastructure, legal system, and integration
of the cultures in Rome’s provinces. Julius Caesar was among the Rome Rulers from 59 to 44
B.C when he was murdered since senators felt he became a dictator instead of a Democrat
(Rosenberg, n.d). Mark Antony followed, then Octavian, later named Augustus, who was behind
the creation of the Golden Age of Rome. Augustus also revived Roman values where fathers
were respected as the head of their families and respected ancestral customs and the laws that
governed Rome. Virgil was a poet who glorified Rome through writing ‘The Aeneid,’ where he
includes the Trojan war, Aeneas’s dangerous adventures, befriending Aeneas by Dido, and the
slaying of the Latin Warrior.
Aeneas was among a group of Trojan refugees who traveled through the stormy seas as
they headed to Italy, which was also their promised land. They were determined and had to
survive the heavy turbulences to head for land after Juno uses her power to keep the Trojans lost
at sea (Democrat Rosenberg, n.d). On realizing this, Neptune claims the ocean Aeneas, however,
toils and moiled to lead his people to safety and peaceful existence by bringing them to land.
After they are forced to tolerate the seas by Juno, they find a shore close to the city of Carthage,
where they meet a queen called Dido.
