The central issues in Program Evaluation in Practice

The central issues in Program Evaluation in Practice revolve around the different choices
a researcher can make when evaluating a program that can significantly influence the
results from that evaluation. Explain your choices in this scenario by addressing the
following questions.
Is it appropriate to provide treatment for some individuals in the criminal justice system
and not others? What if not much is known about the effect of treatment, and it could
very well make them worse and not betterdoes this change your answer? If so, why?
(LO 11).
Treatment of some individuals in the criminal justice system and leaving out the
others is not appropriate and should not be allowed. The reason is that the sole purpose
of the criminal justice system is to provide treatment to all individuals because they have
some problems. The failure of criminal justice to treat some individuals means that they
are not compatible with the specified program and should try another effective program.
The reason is that people have a range of issues that need different treatment, and it is the
work of the criminal justice system to determine the most effective treatment for them.
Additionally, they determine the duration at which the individual will receive the full
treatment. Therefore, when some individuals do not respond to the treatment programs, it
means that the criminal justice system missed something and should rectify it. It explains
why some individuals may be taken to more than five prisons for a long time, and then
they go to other prisons and come up with reformed individuals. Therefore, when an
individual is not responding to a treatment, it means that they are not in the right
treatment program and should be changed to get better (Andrews & Bonta, 2010).
