I have attached three short reading assignments about the future of interoperability. One is about Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), HL7 FHIR, and Web Services. Another article is about the two big EHR vendor interoperability initiatives (Carequality and CommonWell) announcing a connection between their solutions. The third article is about Apple Health Record, which is an example of interoperability directed at the patient or consumer. Consumer directed interoperability appears to be what many believe will finally cause national interoperability to happen.
