Tae-Kyo is a deeply ingrained belief structure that influences how Korean moms manage
their prenatal care. According to the belief that life begins at conception and that a fetus is a
person, the expectant mother is supposed to practice tae-Kyo and to self-regulate and take care of
herself to promote healthy fetal growth. A mother’s mental health during pregnancy is considered
to be extremely important to the growth and development of a kid in Korea. Pregnant moms are
also urged to refrain from having sex and advised from taking medication, but they may be
permitted to utilize traditional treatments.
However, the allopathic guidelines for prenatal care do not totally align with Korean tae-
kyo treatment. Tae-kyo focuses on information and abilities handed down from mothers to their
daughters, unlike allopathic prenatal care, which is left to trained medical professionals.
Additionally, it appears that tae-kyo places insufficient emphasis on the mother’s and kid’s health
