A Psychiatrist is a medical doctor who are trained to diagnose mental illness and treat it using a variety of methods. They can prescribe medication, including controlled substances if necessary. Three main differences between psychologist and psychiatrist are 1. Education and training. Psychiatrist have medical degrees, psychologist do not. 2. Authority to medicate. Psychiatrist can prescribed medication, most psychologist can not. 3. Treatment. Psychologist focus on the behavior of the patient, psychiatrist provide a wide variety of different treatment’s.”
