“To the Promised Land” Plot Summary

Chapter 14

Josh Kaplan is in his office, waiting for Moses so that he could have a word with him.

Josh had tried several times to bring Moses on board with the way he did business, but Moses

would not be swayed. Moses arrives one hour late, and Josh proceeds to tell him that the

Humanity Hospital case is taking longer than expected. Josh, affirms his authority and asks

Moses to produce weekly reports and briefings on the case. In the journal of Moses, verses from

the Bible on atonement are recorded. Moses highlights that he must make amends for defending

Waste Disposal. The anomaly present is Moses has no clue how he can atone for his actions, thus

presenting the principle of ought implies can.

Chapter 15

Peter prepares for a press conference to give an update on Moses’ court case and the Fair

Opportunity Initiative. Saul told him that he should bring his girlfriend along. Andrea came to

the conference, and Peter explained to her how he knew Moses from Pembroke and how they

were good friends. Peter went to the press conference and was able to give the statement and

answer questions from reporters, as they had practiced with Duke. In Moses’ journal, he writes

about forgiveness from the people you’ve wronged and from God. Moses also notes down

various verses that discuss forgiveness. Moses wonders whether there is forgiveness for a crime

against humanity. The anomaly is the act of Moses seeking forgiveness while he knew too well

what he was getting into, bringing into light the principle of the mean.
