In Homer’s Odyssey, Book 9, Odysseus begins to tell his story to the Phaeacians. What do we learn about the character of Odysseus in the cave of the Cyclops Polyphemus? Why does he go to the land of the Cyclopes in the first place? What trouble does he find himself in with Polyphemus? How is he able to overcome these trials and what does he have to say to Polyphemus at the end? Why might this story have relativity to the present situation that Odysseus finds himself in with the Phaeacians?
