Debates about immigration have been in the news, particularly in the current administration.
A lot of the recent issues have stemmed from state and national governments’ attempts to
reform immigration laws and to strengthen border security in states such as Texas, Arizona,
and California, as well to as secure other U.S. borders to prevent immigrants and refugees
from different parts of the world from entering. Discuss the idea of borders (e.g. what are
they? what is their purpose?). What do you think makes illegal immigration a “hot button”
