For your first paper, answer some aspect of the question: What is ethical? You obviously cannot answer this entire question in a few short pages, so you must choose a narrow topic which fits within the general study of ethics.

Present your own argument in your own words, using resources from this unit as support for your argument. Your argument should be clearly stated in a thesis statement, you should have clear main supporting points, and you should consider and respond to at least one objection. See the grading rubric attached the the assignment for grading criteria. There is also a video presentation on the paper assignments in the Start Here module.

There are no length requirements for this paper, but a good length is likely between 4 and 6 pages. It’s fine if your paper is longer than this. If your paper is shorter, look for ways to deepen your argument.

Turnitin will be used to assess originality.

Include a full bibliography. You are permitted to seek out additional sources if you like.

You will also be permitted to resubmit this paper one time if you are not satisfied with your grade. Your second submission should include a cover page which lists the improvements you made with page numbers for each improvement. Your final grade will be an average of the two scores.
