Write an Essay іn which yоu idеntify a fictional film that you have seen before, and that you think could be usefully analyzed from an eco-critical рerspective.

1) provide an introduction, in which you set up the problem or question you are interested in, introduce the film, and identify your thesis regarding it.

(2) give a short summary of the film;

(3) identify a few key details from the film that support your thesis;

(4) tie it all together in a conclusion.

(1) turn in an individual essay, 5-6 pages, in which you defend a thesis about environmental themes or implications in the film your group presented on; your essay should discuss details of the film, and use these to support your thesis; your essay should also engage in a significant way with at least two authors who have written about this film (or about the subjects that you are writing about in connection with the film), and no more than one of these can be an online source, which means you will need to plan to go to the library (exception: you can make use of an online source if it is a full text scholarly source that you find through our library databases). You must have a works cited page, which will be in addition to the 5-6 pages of the essay.

Note also that your essay should be no longer than 6 pages: be clear and concise and only say what you need to say to make the points you want to make. You obviously cannot say everything about your film, but you should say what your film is about and then pick some aspect of the film that you think has an environmental implication to focus on. (As you prepare to write this essay, you are expected to read and follow the advice in chapters 4-9 of Writing About Movies; you should expect to start reading that book right away, and refer to it throughout our class.)
