Overview

In this module you will focus on conducting analysis to measure the association and strength of relationships. You will explore ways in which these concepts are applied in scholarly research.

Data Analysis: Analysis and Interpretation Assignment Instructions

 

Overview

This course requires 2 data analysis assignments which will include 2 of the 4 main components of quantitative methods: data analysis in SPSS, results interpretation, and presentation.

Students will be required to perform hands-on analysis in SPSS using downloadable datasets accompanying the Pallant (2020) textbook. The assignments will be in a Word document, APA current edition format, and supported by course readings and outside peer-reviewed journals, as appropriate.

Instructions

You will use SPSS to provide answers for Analysis 1 and Analysis 2 questions posed below.This will be a “blended” assignment in which you will need to include the graphic output of results for each analysis within the word documents along with your answers for your paper. You will utilize the downloadable datesets that accompany the Pallant (2020) text in order to complete your outputs for this assignment.   1. Follow the procedures covered inPallant Chapter 6 to generate appropriate descriptive statistics to answer the following questions.
  2. a)What percentage of the staff in this organisation are permanent employees? (Use the variable employstatus.)
  3. b)What is the average length of service for staff in the organisation? (Use the variable service.)
  4. c)What percentage of respondents would recommend the organisation to others as a good place to work? (Use the variable recommendation.)

  1. Assess the distribution of scores on the Total Staff Satisfaction Scale (totsatis) for employees who are permanent versus casual (employstatus).
  2. a)Are there any outliers on this scale that you would be concerned about?
  3. b)Are scores normally distributed for each group?

  1. Perform non-parametric statistics to answer the following questions described in Chapter 16:
  2. a)Use a Chi-Square Test for Independence to compare the proportions of males and females (gender) who indicate they have a sleep problem (probsleeprec).
  3. b)Use the Mann-Whitney U Test to compare the mean sleepiness ratings (Sleepiness and Associated Sensations Scale total score: totSAS) for males and females (gender).
  4. c)Conduct a Kruskal-Wallis Test to compare the mean sleepiness ratings (Sleepiness and Associated Sensations Scale total score: totSAS) for the three age groups defined by the variable agegp3 (37 or under, 38–50, 51+).

  1. Follow the procedures in the section on independent-samples t-tests in Chapter 17 to compare the mean sleepiness ratings (Sleepiness and Associated Sensations Scale total score: totSAS) for males and females (gender).
