This module introduces you to the challenge of idolizing political philosophies.  Idolatries of this kind lead to tyranny, statism, and ineffective policy solutions.  You will examine this dynamic in light of a Biblical model of statesmanship favoring limited government, the protection of inalienable rights and liberties, covenantal principles, and justice.

  • Evaluate the notion of political ideology as idolatry.
  • Discuss the challenges of achieving “cosmic justice” as defined by Sowell.
  • Compare and contrast Koyzis’ understanding of political idolatry with Sowell’s notion of “cosmic justice”.
  • Evaluate all of the above in light of a Biblical model of statesmanship.
