Part 2
In this part of the assignment you have the opportunity to hear from a rape victim and to learn about some of the situations and attitudes she encountered after her attack. By completing this assignment you also have an opportunity to apply concepts and theories of sexual violence you have learned in this course and to reflect on attitudes you have heard or encountered regarding this type of victim.
Readthe first-person account(http://www.nytimes.com/1989/02/26/magazine/hers-speaking-of-the-unspeakable.html)of a woman who has been sexually assaulted and of how this has impacted her life.
The description of the incident is very graphic in this article. If you have a history of trauma be a little cautious. It may be best to read this article in the morning when you have all day to process it rather than at night before going to sleep.

Submission Details:
From my professor:First this assignment has you doing a bit of free association with regard to the term victim. I would encourage you to do the free association exercise openly and without censoring to see what comes up from your own associations and cognitions about that term. What you choose to share with the class in your discussion posts can certainly be censored by you and you are not expected to divulge everything that came up from the free association part of the exercise. I hope that makes sense.
For the case study part of the exercise make sure you address all the required elements of the assignment. These required elements include tying in Groth’s research (found in the weekly readings) sharing any insights on how Sebold’s article might have opened your eyes to your own ignorance of rape identifying other examples of ignorance of rape and identifying resources for victims in your local area. I am also providing yet another reminder that parts of this assignment and course might be difficult including reading this case study or even the free association exercise mentioned above. Please know you can certainly reach out if you need any assistance.Any questions about this assignment just let me know.
