Purpose of Collaboration

Purpose of Collaboration
The main collaborators in the development of the new baseball stadium include Initiator
and response party, the A’s Participants (The city of Oakland, the Port of Oakland, The state
legislature), the Howard Terminal proposal Community Benefits Agreement (CBA), and
Possible private sponsors. The collaboration will enhance the completion of the new baseball
stadium with affordable houses, business spaces and improve tourism in the region.
Additionally, the collaboration will help the project achieve its goal of offering affordable
housing. In particular, more than 60% of residents in Oakland, who are tenants earning an
average income of $36,000 annually, will be the primary beneficiary (Berg, 2020). Recently, the
rental increased by 14% for a one-bedroom house and 18% for a two-bedroom house, making
Oakland one of the most expensive areas to rent a house. However, the collaboration in
developing a new baseball stadium will lead to low-cost and affordable housing. More houses
will be built within the new stadium location to reduce the high demand for housing, thus
lowering the rent cost. The collaboration will be crucial in lowering the cost of rent by more than
10%, which will increase the purchasing power of the people in the region (Levin, 2019). More
than 3,000 homes will be built in the area designated as the PDAs to improve housing conditions
in the region.
The collaboration will set new locations and spaces for commercial activities. The
Priority Development Areas will be solicited to streamline business activities in the new baseball
stadium. In this case, the Priority Development Areas will have new homes, commercial
locations, and community amenities (Levin, 2019). Thus, the collaboration will promote business
activities in the region, create job opportunities, and improve existing infrastructures.
