Sources of Professional Direction
The ability for patient to receive quality care is dependent on the professional behaviours
demonstrated by nurses. Thus, the nursing practices are guided by professional values that
provide direction on the appropriate code of conduct. The sources for professional direction in
included the ethical codes, in this case bio ethical codes and those stipulated by the nursing
organization (Poorchangizi et al., 2019). The bio ethical codes provide nurses values, nursing
professional practices and professional norms. On the other hand, the nursing bodies provide the
values related to ways to improve the quality of care. Besides, the nursing bodies also address
ways to protect the nursing profession and the need to ensure safety of the nurses during practice.
