You are a graduate student in Anthropology and your advisors, Jane Jacobs and Henri Lefebvre, have chosen you to use their very secret time traveling machine. You will travel back in time to New York City in the 1870s and to Teotihuacan in the Valley of Mexico circa 500 AD. Your assignment is to analyze the construction and use of space in these cities in their respective times.

Some thoughts to consider: describe the layout of these cities, how the built environment expands, how each city might be divided between groups of people, and how the space is utilized. Most importantly, as a good graduate student, make sure you refer to your advisors’ ideas and works to frame your own thinking. (First-person narrative, 600 words minimum)
