Introduction
The civil rights movement was the action that took place in the 1950s and 1960s,
intending to demand equal human rights for the Black Americans in the US laws. Blacks in the
US have been the center of inequality since the 19
th
century. They were used as slaves with the
whites for a long time, from the children to the adults. The fight for equal human rights began in
the 1800s, where the blacks fought to abolish slavery. They then took a step forward by
demanding the right to vote, and the black men were given voting rights. With every step taken,
the blacks accomplished something new. This text will be the main goal in this text and how the
achievements created a US legacy.
