Topic: analysis of a significant “modern art” painting
The task in this essay is to choose an artist from the “modern art” era and analyze one of his or her most famous paintings. A list of possible painters whose work you might want to focus on follow. If you decide to write about an artist not on the list, please let me know. If you choose an artist on the list, you do not have to get your topic approved. Whatever artist you choose, study a particular important painting from that artist, conduct research through a combination of books and articles from LRC databases and images and central websites from the internet, and come up with a reasonable analysis of that painting. “Google Images” is a good place to get an image of the painting you are going to analyze. Be sure to include a copy of that image with your essay. The list of “approved” artists follows:
