Read chapters 4–12 of Heartand while you are reading them map the anatomical structures the text describes on figures 8.1 and 8.2 in the textbook, presenting the internal anatomy of the heart. Which parts of the heart the ancient doctors understood best and which they misunderstood? Why do you think they were able to understand those they did and misunderstood those they did not? And the last question, in chapters 10–11, the text states that intelligence is seated in the left ventricle. What in the anatomy and physiology of the heart prompted the ancient doctors to think so?
